My
name is Dan Herren, and I love golf. I love the game itself, the rules,
the history...everything. I was born and raised in a small farming
community in Iowa, not far from the Field of Dreams. I grew up playing
golf on a rural 9-hole course called Fawn Creek Country Club where
the “student” rate for membership was $30.00 per year.
That was the rate I paid from the time I was twelve (when I started
playing) until I finished college. Some of my fondest, and funniest,
memories took place while I was playing golf with my friends on that
course. That is probably what fuels my love for the game.
In the late 90's, I became a little bored with my career, which
involved way too much time sitting at a desk, so I decided to open
a golf store. I wanted my store to be different than the other stores that
I knew. Sure I wanted to offer great golf products at competitive
prices, who doesn't? But I also wanted my store to have the look,
warm feel and excellent service of a golf club pro shop. It is honest,
friendly service that I believe is most important,
and that is what we strive for every day at GolfZilla. We call it
MONSTER SERVICE.
MONSTER SERVICE comes in many forms...a
pleasant, inviting atmosphere; a friendly, knowledgeable, experienced
staff that is focused on making customers feel welcome; a DEMO
PROGRAM that allows customers to “try before they
buy” and free club fitting with the purchase of clubs. In general,
my goal was to create a store with great prices and an atmosphere
that lets customers know that their business is truly appreciated.
I think my staff and I accomplished that goal. We hope you agree.
Our store is located in Coralville, Iowa and it opened on December
7, 2000. The store offers a full line of golf products from the major
vendors in golf.
